Coach McKenna is a native of Kearny, New Jersey and brings a wealth of coaching experience to the Mobsters. Coach McKenna strives to create opportunities for our local athletes to play and achieve at the next level. Coach McKenna has coached at almost every level to include youth, high school, college, Olympic Development (ODP) Team, and at the professional level as head coach of the National Alliance Soccer League’s Dallas Sidekicks.

As a player Coach McKenna spent his youth career playing with the illustrious Scots American/Thistle F.C. clubs based in New Jersey. As a high school player he went on to captain the Kearny team that won the High School State Championship and was subsequently named the Fred L. Coggins Award recipient as a high school All-American, and later inducted into the Kearny Hall of Fame.

Despite being drafted by the North American Soccer League's New York Cosmos while still in high school, Coach McKenna opted to pursue a college career and played at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. While at UNLV he was a member of the 1985 UNLV Hall of Fame team, and captained the Big West Championship Team in his senior year.

McKenna continues coaching in the youth soccer club scene, where he has held numerous positions as technical director, head coach, club clinician, and presently the Director of Operations for the Las Vegas Sports Academy & Las Vegas Premier Sports Academy.

Kyle played college soccer at Yavapai College. Prior to Yavapai Kyle played with Premier and Neusport in Las Vegas youth soccer, making the Nevada Olympic Developmental (ODP) Team. In addition to his coaching role with the Mobsters, Kyle is  a youth soccer coach for the Las Vegas Sports Academy (LVSA).

Julian Portugal

Strength and Conditioning Coach



Portugal brings one year of professional soccer experience with the Tulsa Roughnecks of the United Soccer League (USL) to the Mobsters. Portugal played college soccer at University of Nevada Las Vegas.  Prior to UNLV Julian was in youth academies in Mexico (Pachuca, Zacatepec, and Atlante). In addition to his role with the Mobsters, Julian is currently one of the assistant coaches and the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach of the College of Southern Nevada Men’s Soccer Program.
